Have the credit you deserve! Display our web site awards for disabled friendly designs

We here at Shopping Site Listings are 100% behind W3C and Bobby recommendations which, in the UK, become a legal requirement in October this year.

Unlike pretty much every other web site out there we don't award these to anyone. We need you to submit your site to us and we will check it against Bobby and W3C and see how well you do. Only if you pass can you display our award. We will NOT be handing these out unless you pass the checks! We know how much extra work and thought is involved in creating a disabled friendly web site.

this award means you've passed the minimum requirements
To win this award....

You need to pass Grade "A" on Bobby on 90% or more of your web site. In most cases passing Grade "A" involves making sure your images have alt tags. Even spacer gif's need to have a alt=" "

This will require some work but by passing this check you have shown you are aware of disability issues and were prepared to help make the internet more accessible.

Once we have given you the green light use the following code on your web site:

<a href="http://www.shopping-site-listings.com/awards/website-award.htm"> <img src="http://www.shopping-site-listings.com//images/disabled-friendly.jpg" alt="This web site has passed our disabled friendly checks" width="109" height="93" border="0"></a>

Or you can right click and save the image and add it to your own site manually.

Double award for having a disabled friendly shopping store
To win the double award...

You will need to pass either Bobby Grade "A" and "AA".

Grade "AA" on Bobby is where most sites run into problems and is normally harder to fix than the "AAA" grade on Bobby. The most common being the fixation to have a web site anchored at certain pixel widths and heights. Not only does this cause problems for the disabled but you run the assumption everyone is running the same browser. You'd be surprised how quickly your fixed width design fall apart in other browsers!

This is an excellent award because it shows you really do care about accessibility issues and have taken the time to think through how the site will be designed. If you can get your site to this level it's worth trying for the award below as well because you're very close to a 100% accessible web site already. If you win this award you've done well!

Once we have given you the green light use the following code on your web site:

<a href="http://www.shopping-site-listings.com/awards/website-award.htm"> <img src="http://www.shopping-site-listings.com/images/disabled-friendly2.jpg" alt="This web site has won our double award for having a very disabled friendly design!" width="216" height="93" border="0"></a>

Or you can right click and save the image and add it to your own site manually.
